The civil rights leader gave words of hope to millions of Black people who continued to suffer economic misery nearly 100 years after the abolition of slavery in the United States. King’s inspiring words – spoken before a crowd of more than 250,000 mostly Black people on August 28, 1963 in Washington, DC – have been immortalised.
